A suburban town in Japan is the victim of what is supposedly just an urban legend, a woman's spirit with a horribly disfigured face who is intent on kidnapping children for unknown reasons.

I've never seen his other stuff but I guess he was at the helm fro the ground-breaking "The Grudge." The thought and complexity of transitioning from imagination to "reality" as in the PAST was amazing. When the director, cast and crew arrive in the hotel, Nagisa sees dead people moving around the place. Was this review helpful? The children seemed very well mannered kids, that their distressing scenes seemed polite and staged. I have two concerns with this film. Was this review helpful? There are actually three movies involved here – the actual movie we're watching, the making of the movie, and the film made by the killer. 8 out of 10 found this helpful. Everything about this movie swirls in a concerted chaos as the main character Sugiuara intensely becomes sensitive to the memories of her murdered victim as she portrays the victim for a movie.

The film start off with a basic horror movie feel, and for the first part Reincarnation feels like an average movie this unfolds and takes on a different pace as the movie carries on, ending with a … But things begin to get a little spooky, when Nagisa begins seeing a ghostly little girl everywhere.

Director/co-writer Takashi Shimizu relates the absorbing story at a gradual, yet steady pace, offers a compelling behind-the-scenes glimpse at the making of a picture, and does a masterful job of creating a spooky and unsettling atmosphere. A young actress is drawn to her role in a horror film and also to a hotel from her dreams: a hotel where eleven people were murdered before she was born. Aspiring young actress Nagisa Sugiura (winningly played by the lovely Yuki) gets a role in a movie about a terrible mass murder which happened at a remote hotel thirty-five years ago. The curious use of late 70's era horror music in a number of scenes was rather distracting, I thought as it rather sucked back in the day as well. First, as the film was in Japanese, I am left thinking there were certain aspects that were left out for the American audience (condensed dialogue in the subtitles). Rinne, also known as Reincarnation in English, is so far one of the the best if not the best horror film so far.

Like a lot of psychological horror, you have to invest some time and energy in this film. Well, I kept hearing all sorts of disappointing statements about Reincarnation. A cellist is haunted by strange events after a car wreck The director did a fabulous job constructing the imagery of the film, and I genuinely did not know about the ending until it was revealed.

This is the classic example of a pretty interesting, somewhat intelligent plot that goes to waste because of poor execution. The legend tells of a female ghost that has no legs. Reincarnation is a Japanese film with subtitles.

A Japanese actress begins having strange visions and experiences after landing a role in a horror film about a real-life murder spree that took place over forty years ago. Intense director Ikuo Matsumura (an excellent performance by Kippei Shiina) takes the cast and crew to the hotel to shoot the picture. 12 of 16 people found this review helpful.

As part of the filming, the director, crew and cast go to the actual hotel in which the multiple murders occurred.

I'm just sayin'.

Although the description of the film may seem bloody and gory, it was not necessarily the most explicitly violent movie i've seen.

First you are looking at a set model and then you are in the actual place and you are wishing you were back with a rendition.
