When it comes to combining the mountains and the sea, it’s tough to think of a better place in the country for hiking than Santa Barbara, California. It's a 2-2.5 hour round trip, moderately difficult hike with a rocky ascent through the creek, so prepared to bring a change of socks and shoes (I used $10 water shoes from Kmart).This is a wonderful hike that I highly recommend if you're in the Santa Barbara area. Please also respect the aquatic two stripes garter snakes that often hang out in the pools. We went on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded, however, I could see this crowded trail becoming annoying on a busy weekend.
