We mostly stayed on this trail, except took a short detour toward cascade canyon trail for a bit before descending back down toward inspiration point. Saw some elk above us in a clearing near the top of the trail. Positive thing was that there wasn't much traffic and was not crowded. Just before reaching the Forks, the trail crosses another footbridge, then climbs another 200 ft to a cool lunch spot by a lovely cascade. Pretty crowded at some points.

Loved this trail! Waterproof shoes and caution will make it happen. I wish we would’ve bought bug spray & brought kayaks to this area, because there were mosquitoes & the water was beautiful! cons: crowded at the trailhead and the eastern part of the hike. The lake is so still!Busy trail even today in the cooler weather and rain. The trail gets its name from the awesome cascades that tumble from the snow fields high on Grand Teton into the valley. There was a detour about half way through and it brought us from 7.7 miles to 8.5. This is not just a destination hike to a waterfall or a high point. All and all do it!Get to this trail head EARLY! One of my favorites that we did when visiting the Tetons. At first we were discouraged because the boat to get us across the lake was closed and we were detoured to hike to hidden falls and inspiration point when we had other plans to hike painted canyon. Wasn't overly crowded the farther we went. Great hike with some views. The Adler Fire area has some great birding as well as some not-at-all-skittish chipmunks and marmots! Easier to park and less populated on that side.

By doing this loop clockwise, the elevation going up along the mountains is more gradual, so at the parking lot take a left at the trail and follow it to the lake’s outlet. Unfortunately, this trial head shares parking with the lake that you can see from the parking lot and no parking on the road. String Lake in Grand Teton National Park is the place to be on a hot summer day! The trail clings to the eastern shore, with views of Mount Moran and the Cathedral Group. Rather crowded around the boat dock and further up, but almost no one was walking around the lake, so it was mostly very peaceful.Great hike.

Got a little lost after the bridge for the Jenny Lake outlet.Absolutely beautiful.
